One of the treasured historical sites in Wayne County is what is commonly called "The Doughboy."
"The Doughboy" is the statue of a World War I soldier erected to honor the brave Wayne County Soldiers who fought for our freedom.
The official name of the sculpture is "The Spirit Of The American Doughboy" and was created by Ernest Moore Viquesney.
The story of the Wayne County statue is well documented.
